Nagenthran is ranked 13th BJP TN chief

Nainar Nagenthran will become the 13th president of the Tamil Nadu BJP, the only person to submit the nomination for the post on Friday.
Mr. Shah posted on X after submitting the nomination for the BJP National Presidential Post: “Tamil Nadu BJP has received nomination for the state presidency only from Shri @nainarbjp Ji.”
Commending the outgoing BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai, he said: “As the president of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit, Shri @annamalai_k Ji has made commendable accomplishments. Whether it is taking the policies of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji to people or the programs of the party from village to village, Annamalai Ji’s contribution has been unprecedented.
Party sources said Mr Nagenstrand’s nomination was proposed by the Union Secretary of State, Mr Anna Marai, who was formerly the former Minister of Congress, L. Murugan. Radhakrishnan, H. Raja, Coimbatore South Mla Vanathi Srinivasan, Vice President Duraisamy, P. Kanagasabapathy, Pon. V. Balaganapathy, KP Ramalingam and Narayanan Thirupathy.
The 64-year-old leader was first elected from the Tirunelveli seat in 2001 as a candidate for the AIADMK. During the AIADMK regime (2001-06), led by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, he was appointed minister and served as the portfolio of transport, industry and electricity.
Although he was elected from the same seat in 2011, the AIADMK seized power again at that time, but he was not granted the ministerial position. His seat lost a narrow seat in the 2006 and 2016 parliamentary elections. Nearly eight months after Jayalalithaa’s death in December 2016, Mr. Nagenthran joined the BJP in August 2017. A few months later, he was appointed vice president of the party’s state unit.
In 2021, he was again elected from the seat as a BJP nominee and was appointed as the legislative leader of the Tamil Nadu Parliament. Mr Nagenthran also competed from Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 and 2024 general elections respectively.
