Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday (19 March 2025) that contrary to the rumor, there is no “Chad‘or Bu with Quranic verses was burned in a protest in the city of Nagpur and vowed to “dig out of the grave” those who attacked the police in the subsequent violence.
The thug allegedly performed poorly with a female police officer and tried to undermine her during the violence on Monday night. The mob threw stones and gasoline bombs, wounding 33 police officers, including three deputy police officers.

Mr. Fadnavis, MLA of Nagpur, spoke at the legislative session that violence has planned to disrupt social harmony.

“Everything that happened two days ago was a planned event by several people. I’m not blaming any community. … We haven’t found anyone’Ayat“(Quranic Verse) on the burned cloth,” CM said.
Rumors about the “Chadar” were burned in a protest led by the Hindu diocese of Vishwa demanding the cancellation of the tomb of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, which triggered the violence on Monday.
“We have verified this from every angle by amplifying the video and pictures of protests,” Fadnavis further said.
He claimed that some people deliberately forwarded information containing false rumors to incite public harassment.
The attack on police officers is unforgivable, CM said, adding: “These people will be punished the most severely. Those who attacked police in Nagpur will be dug out of their graves. We will not leave them out.” “Nagpur is now peaceful. The city is known for its peace. There has been no riots in the city since 1992. Violence is a planned event for some people. Only replicas of the grave of Orlandsb were burned down (during the VHP protest). There was no “AYAT”. “AYAT” was burned down, but the rumors suffered some publicity. These people suffered a lot of harm. Arrested,” Fadnavis said.
He also clarified that his statement about the violence was not inconsistent with what the Nagpur police commissioner said.
“The commissioner said the investigation will determine whether violence is planned. I did not say anything contradictory,” he said.
