Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has ordered immediate compensation for farmers who have suffered crop losses in non-seasonal rainfall.

The chief minister said in a review meeting with officials from the Agriculture and National Disaster Management Agency on Monday that the money should arrive at farmers on Tuesday night. Regional collectors joined the conference via video conference.

Naidu said officials must complete the assessment of crop damage as soon as possible so that financial relief can be paid without delay.

He expressed concern about the deaths of eight people in lightning, and he asked officials to provide cautious attitudes to the relatives of the deceased.

As IMD predicts further rainfall in various regions, CM requires officials to remind the public in advance and take precautions to ensure safety for all. “Officers must act on humanitarian grounds during disaster times and provide all possible assistance to affected affected. Alerts about the possibility of lighting are sent through mobile phones.”

Officials submitted preliminary reports on damage/loss of crops to CM and noted that Paddy and corn suffered damage in about 2,224 hectares. West Godavari suffered severe pain in 1,033 hectares of 15 dominations, while Nandyal suffered damage at 641 hectares, followed by losses at 530 hectares of Kakinada and 20 hectares of Satya Sai.

Regarding horticultural crops, mainly bananas, papayas and mangoes have been damaged on approximately 138 hectares of land located in Krishna, Erluru, Kakinada, NTR, Tirupati, Nandyal, Nandyal and West Godavari areas.

They said the death tolls due to non-seasonal rains was 10-tirupati-4, prakasam and bapatla-2, each and Eluru and Nellore-1 were respectively.

Civil Materials Commissioner Saurabh Gaur told CM that their goal is to purchase 2 million tons of rice fields for the Rabi season. Among them, farmers purchased 1.3 million mountains from farmers. We will also strive to purchase color-changing rice.

CM said all rice fields from farmers should be purchased. If needed, he will work hard at the center to get it to source rice fields.

Naidu praised the Department of Energy officials for recovering power immediately after rains destroyed power systems in parts of the state.
