Naidu announces cancellation of Tirumala Mumtaz Hotel Project bid

Tirumala: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the cancellation of all tenders related to the controversial Mumtaz Hotel project adjacent to Tirumala Hills on Friday.
The decision to cancel the tender was as the construction of luxury resorts near the Sacred Hills continued to increase, citing their concerns about their holiness.
Naidu said the former government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has allowed the Mumtaz Hotel to be close to Tirumala Hills.
“The permission of the 35.32 acres of hotels was revoked. Anywhere near the Tirumala Mountains, commercialization should be prohibited. However, they only offer vegetarian menus. Private is not allowed in the area.”
The plan is to build a 100-room 5-star hotel on 20 acres of land in 2026 and add 25 rooms under the “Trident” brand, with an estimated cost of Rs 25 billion. The hotel is scheduled to operate by March 2027.
