Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the security situation following the Pahalgam terrorist attacks in Chamu and Kashmir on Wednesday, killing 28 people. Sources said Defense Minister Gen Anil Chauhan, three service directors, Secretary of Defense and Director-General of Military Operations.
It is understood that Singh directed the armed forces to enhance their combat readiness and increase the intensity of counter-terrorism operations.
Officials said the terrorists attacked on Tuesday at a major tourist site in Pahalgam in southern South Kashmir, killing at least 26 people, mostly tourists, and several others were injured.
They said the deceased included two foreigners – from the UAE and Nepal – as well as two locals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortened his trip to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning, while Interior Minister Amit Shah rushed to Srinagar on Tuesday night to lead the security measures.
The Prime Minister vowed that these attacks would not be spared and brought to justice.
