Narayana Murthy’s Infosys is available for free…

The move comes after a similar layoff in February 2025, when more than 300 trainees were released for the same reason.
Infosys, one of India’s largest IT companies, abandoned 240 entry-level employees who did not clear their internal assessments. According to MoneyControl, the company shared the news with affected employees via an email sent on April 18.
The move comes after a similar layoff in February 2025, when more than 300 trainees were released for the same reason. In both cases, Infosys offers free high-skill plans through NIIT and provides an improvement in the BPM (Business Process Management) role.
The company said employees had three opportunities to get extra time, suspicious meetings and pass the “General Foundation Training Program”, but they still didn’t meet the required criteria. Therefore, they cannot continue to carry out the apprenticeship program.
Infosys is helping these employees by providing professional abdication services and Infosys-sponsored external training. Those interested in the BPM role can receive special training and apply again for Infosys BPM Limited. Others who want to continue to participate can participate in the free IT training.
In addition to training, Infosys provides one-month salary, accommodation and travel allowances to affected employees to return home from the training center in Mysore.
About 730 trainees joined Infosys on October 21, 2024 and conducted a final assessment on April 17, 2025. Results are expected to be provided for the next team of trainees next week.
In March, the company also abandoned 30-45 students on the Mysore campus for similar reasons. The trainees also received a 12-week training program to prepare for BPM roles.
Many of these employees are hired as system engineers and digital expert engineers. They have been waiting for more than two years to join Infosys due to the global economic slowdown and reduced spending on customers.
Infosys recently announced that despite slow demand in major markets such as the United States and Europe, it plans to hire 20,000 freshmen in the fiscal year. Last year, it hired more than 15,000 freshmen.
