Nasars, involved in killing 29 police officers, including SP, surrender

Reibull: A Maoist couple allegedly killed 29 police officers, including the local police chief, in 2009, in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, in 2009, surrendered under police officers in Kondagaon, Bastar, the state.
Police said the Naxals (Naxals) recovered Kumeti and Punay Achala and surrendered before the Kondagaon district chief of police officer Akshay Kumar.
The two Maoists, carrying a bounty of 800,000 rupees, joined Naxar cadres in 2002, allegedly suspected of carrying out many major attacks on security personnel over the past two decades.
The rebel duo allegedly participated in a Maoist ambush at a police party in Madanwada, Rajnangan District on July 12, 2009, including the then-police police officer (including the then-deputy police officer) Vinod Kumar Choubey.
They allegedly participated in the attack by the police party in Amanora Jungle, Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh on May 24, 2011, among which nine police officers, including the local additional police chief (ASP) Rajesh Pawar, were killed.
They were also allegedly involved in weapons and ammunition robbery in the Kolaput region of Southern Odisha in 2004.
Nearly 1,000 Maoist cadres carried out a six-hour attack on the Kolaput Regional Headquarters on February 4, 2004, attacking the area’s armory and other police stations, and robbing a large number of weapons and ventilation officers.
Maoists passed a press release at the time claiming to have plundered weapons, ammunition and grenades worth about Rs 5 billion.
Police sources estimate that about 200 weapons have been stolen.
The loot includes weapons such as .303 rifles, light machine guns (LMGs), self-loaded rifles (SLRs), mortars, supporters, revolvers and pistols, as well as over 30,000 rounds and a large number of grenades.
