Naveen accuses Odisha’s BJP government of twisting history, saffron party hits

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik made a cover-up on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the 28th anniversary of the death of former Odisha (Biju Janata Dal) (BINATA DAL), accusing it of trying to recreate historical political interests.

Speaking at the commemoration event attended by party staff and media members, the former chief minister urged the current government to focus on the development and progress of Odisha rather than “depreciating the soil’s eldest son”.

Patnaike said: “Efforts are being made to change the history of history, but those responsible should remember that history reflects the collective experience of a country.

Orissa BJP President Manmohan Samal responded to Patnaik’s remarks, refuting that the remarks were politically motivated and inappropriate.

“Today should be paid tribute to Biju Patnaik, the towering figure in Odisha history. Instead, Naveen Patnaik chose to indulge in political rhetoric. This is an unfortunate and untrustworthy for the former chief minister.”

He went further and expressed doubts about the authenticity of Patnaik’s remarks. Samar added: “Either he was misled by the consultant or just read from a script prepared by someone else. He should reflect on what he was talking about.”

In the internal turmoil within the BJD, exchanges took place as recent events underlined the divisions of the party’s senior leadership. Seeing a faction of veteran leaders hold a meeting at a private hotel in Bhubaneswar, a sign of dissidents and weakening regional party cohesion.
