Navy frigate helps injured PAK crew on fishing boat

New Delhi: The Indian Navy’s stealth frigate operates in central Arabia and provides urgent and critical medical assistance to severely injured Pakistani crews on a fishing boat about 350 nautical miles east of the coast of Oman.

On the morning of April 4, INS Trikand intercepted the distress call from Iran’s DHOW ALOMEEDI. The investigation showed that while working on the engine, the crew suffered severe finger injuries while working. The injured person was a Pakistani national from the Baloch community, suffering multiple fractures and heavy blood loss. He has been transferred to another ship heading to Iran, FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia. FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia’s crew consists of 11 Pakistani (9 Baloch and 2 Sindhi) and 5 Iranian personnel.

INS Trikand immediately redirected its route, sending its medical officers along with teams including Marcos (Marcos Commando) and the boarding team of the ship. The team underwent local anesthesia and performed three hours of surgery, including sutures and splint injured fingers. Their timely intervention successfully controlled the bleeding and avoided the risk of permanent damage caused by gangrene.

In addition to the surgical procedure, the Indian Navy also provided important medical supplies, including antibiotics, to ensure the well-being of the crew until it reached its destination in Iran. The crew of FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia expressed deep gratitude for the timely help saved the crew’s life.
