The National Council of Women (NCW) launched the Campus Call program on May 16, 2025 (NCW), which aims to increase gender sensitivity, raise awareness of preventing sexual harassment and address cybercrime that affects students.

The program was launched in partnership with the youth development platform “Yuvamanthan”. According to the Commission’s official statement, it marks an important step in establishing a gender-sensitive and cybersecurity education space nationwide, with NCW and Yuvamanthan leading allegations of empowering youth and promoting a safe environment for all.

Cybersecurity

The program aims to attract more than 1,000 universities and universities across the country, making it one of the NCW’s most extensive youth-centric initiatives. It aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to effectively combat gender-based discrimination, harassment and cybercrime.

“Our nation has always empowered women, and today, our daughters are breaking barriers by flying fighter jets, taking on combat roles in the armed forces, and excelling in science, technology, and space. It is a powerful statement that India is progressing towards its goals with full strength,” NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said, launching the programme at the Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

She added: “We see Indian youth leading some of the largest companies in the world. The world admires the potential of Indian youth. We are in the “golden age” of 25 years – “Amrit Kaal” – I believe that through our youth power, the dream of developing India will be realized.”

Student Ambassador

As part of the initiative, students commit to gender-sensitiveness, prevention of sexual harassment and cybersecurity, reaffirming their commitment to fostering a respectful and secure campus. The program also announced the selection of two female and two male campus ambassadors at each institution, who will make a keen effort among peers and promote a culture of security, equality and respect.

The event was organized by intellectual property cells, Women’s Empowerment Commission, gender-sensitized cells, and SVSU’s gender equality and equal opportunity cells.
