Governments should ensure no innocent people are killed: CPI (M) Politburo in Operation Kagar

In a statement here, the CPI(M) POLIT Bureau said it was concerned about the impact of the Kagar action initiated by the central government of Chhattisgarh to eliminate Maoists in the region, and in a statement here, the CPI(M) POLIT Bureau said the government must ensure that no innocent lives are lost.

More than 350 Maoists have been killed by security forces since the BJP government took over in 2023, and this year alone, 145 of them have been killed. The Kagar operation was initiated by the government in January 2024.

In a statement on Sunday (May 4, 2025) issued by the Politburo after the meeting, “The government must ensure that the lives of innocent adivasis are not lost in the firefight between government forces and Maoists.”

Maoists proposed a dialogue with the government. In this case, the Politburo said: “The government should accept peace talks because this issue can only be solved through the use of weapons.”

The Politburo meeting was also called to determine the distribution of work among its newly elected members. The Central Committee will review the working departments at its two-day meeting from June 3 to 5.
