Nearly 5,500 fire accidents were reported within five months

Hyderabad: The deaths of 17 people in a large fire in a building in Gulzar Houz in Charminar early Sunday morning highlighted a shocking revelation: 5,407 train accidents occurred in the first five months of 2025. Of these 5,407, 50 were serious and 20 were the main ones.

On May 15, a fire broke out in a three-story building in Begum Bazaar. Five fire tenders from Gowliguda, Moghalpura, High Court, Secretariat and Salar Jung Museum Station were deployed.

On May 9, two stores dug holes in a shopping mall in Chandanagar. Alarm staff helps customers get out safely. It is caused by a short circuit.

On May 7, a choreographer, Poorkati Veerkant Reddy, was killed in a fire that broke out in the air conditioning of his bedroom in the Puppalaguda residence.

According to data maintained by the fire department, the most fire accidents have been reported in the home after farms and outdoor storage.

In an earlier conversation, district fire officer Thangaram Venkanna once said: “As summer approaches, we recommend people to exercise caution. We strongly recommend that you add limited use of equipment such as air conditioners, coolers and other devices in summer use. In addition to that, we also recommend that people change their old cabling systems.”

According to a fire department official, fire safety awareness has become a demand for the hour. “We recommend people use fire detection alerts, have enough ventilation around them, and always notify the nearest fire department. Most misfortunes can be addressed through awareness.”

If you find a fire in a building/apartment:

1. Go out

2. If there is smoke, crawl, please do not breathe

3. Once it comes out, place the wet cloth on your mouth

4. Close the door from you out to prevent the smoke from dissipating

5. Never wait for items to be collected

If you are trapped in a fire or unable to come out:

1. Make ventilation available, with a window or door around it that won’t let smoke, and then leave a passage for air

2. Call the Fire Department now
