Nepal says it does not allow the use of soil on neighbors through “meaningless” forces

Kathmandu: Nepal said on Thursday it was “very concerned” about the rise in tensions in the region and asserted that the Himalayan state would not allow the use of its soil on neighbors through “unintentional” troops. The comments from the Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs came after India launched Operation Sindor early on Wednesday, attacking nine terrorist targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and Punjab provinces in retaliation for the Pahargam terrorist attack, killing 26 people, including a Nepali citizen, including 26 people.

“The Nepali government is deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions following the terrorist attacks between India and Pakistan on innocent tourists in Pahargam, and Nepali nationals have also lost their precious lives,” the statement said.

It said: “In this tragic time, Nepal and India were united and fell into sorrow and suffering together.”

It said Nepal condemned the barbaric terrorist attacks “immediately and explicitly”, “consistent with its firm stance on all forms of terrorism.”

Nepal stands with everyone in the fight against terrorism, the statement added.

“In line with its primary position, Nepal shall not allow any mismatched forces to use its soil against its neighbors,” the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Bimalendra Nidhi, former deputy prime minister and senior leader of Nepal’s parliament, said: “We join India in the fight against terrorism.”

In an article on X, Needi said: “We have successfully carried out successful Operation Sindur to the Indian Army against the terrorists.

He called it a “natural reaction” to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
