“Don’t get in the way of me,” the former U.S. Marine Corps told staff during a 17-minute speech on the first day.
Richardson was appointed after a proposal to bring a chainsaw to the National Disaster Relief Agency during a hearing on Capitol Hill on Hamilton.
“I don’t think it’s in the best interest of the American people to eliminate the federal emergency management agency,” Hamilton said.
But Richardson held his first meeting with thousands of new employees to ensure loyalty to the president.
“I tend to fulfill the president’s intentions, just like making sure I perform my duties, bringing my Marines to Iraq, with 11 of them,” Richardson said in the recording.
He previously served as the U.S. Marine Ground Combat Officer and saw action in Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa, and in the process he received a heroic award.
In his 17-minute speech, he told an anecdote about sending a member of the Second Marine Corps from Iraq.
“My mission is too important to no one can destroy me or make things difficult,” Richardson said.
The first act of his office was to send two memos to staff, whom he encouraged them to read.
