New Greenfield Airport 15 helicopter in Paradeep

Bhubaneswar, May 2: To upgrade the state’s aviation infrastructure decisive move, the Odisha government has announced plans for the new Greenfield Airport in Paradeep. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a key meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan on Friday night, highlighting the government's commitment to developing aviation facilities that meet global standards, with a focus on modernization and capacity enhancement.

The proposed Paladeep Airport is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and enhance Odisha's position in the national aviation network. In addition to this, the Chief Minister directed the rapid development of the Puri Shri Jagannath Airport Project, a priority initiative aimed at improving connectivity with popular pilgrimage and tourist destinations.

In a broader strategy to enhance aviation access across the state, the government has also announced plans to develop inlines in 15 regions. The program aims to improve connectivity within the country, especially in remote and underserved areas.

Further discussions during the meeting introduced the future development of the Biju Patnaik Aviation Center at the Birashole Gas Race Track in Dhenkanal, and the Ministry of Public Works was appointed as the Nodal agency to speed up the project.

The upgrade plan for Rourkela airport was also reviewed and proposed to improve infrastructure at several other major airports in Jeypore, Dandabose, Rangilunda, Gotama, Satibhata, Raisuan, Tushara, Tushara, Jamadarpali, Jamadarpali, Malkangiri, Malkangiri, Amarkangiri, Amarkangiri, Amarda Road and several other major airports in Utkela and Utkela.

Chief Minister Majhi reiterated his government’s vision to establish world-class aviation facilities in Odisha, including airports, helicopters and drone centres. The meeting also proposed the Civil Aviation Administration’s restructuring aimed at building modern infrastructure and strengthening human resources to support the state’s growing aviation sector.
