Priyank Kharge Slams L&T’s delay in Kalaburagi Water Project

Kalaburagi: Frustrated by the slow pace of Kalaburagi’s long-awaited 24×7 drinking water project, Minister Priyank Kharge canceled L&T officials on Tuesday and directed City Corporation Commission to prepare a report that recommended that the company perform poorly.

Kharge, who is also the responsible minister for the region, reviewed the project at a meeting held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday.

He expressed anger at the delay, questioning why city companies and Kuidfc engineers failed to ensure that work was completed in time.

He said: “The government is spending thousands of crores of rupees to clean drinking water for people. But what are officials doing if work delays such work? There are few 170 to 300 workers on site when thousands should be deployed.

Karger warned officials that such negligence would not be tolerated and directed the commissioner to issue notices to the person in charge.

He also requested a detailed report covering notices sent to the company so far, disciplinary action taken and responsibilities given to engineers.

Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanprakash Patil also added his voice, saying there was sewage put into the city drainage system into the Saradagi barrage and stressed the need for quick action to prevent pollution.
