The National Highway Administration of India (NHAI) began work on Thursday to bridge the illegal gap between the Velor Chennai Bangladesh Highway (NH 44) along the median to prevent accidents.

The move came a few days ago after being killed after being hit by a vehicle in an elevated corridor between Collectorate and Green Circle. An official from Nhai told him: “Jaywalkers have also sneaked in through the median gap. Hindus.

On Wednesday night, collector VR Subbulaxmi, along with police and NHAI officials, checked the location where pedestrians were killed. She directed officials to take safety measures and close such gaps.

Police said at least 10 people were killed in more than a month, according to records.

Road users pointed out that Jaywalking poses a risk to them. In addition, many integrated communities between Chennai and Bengaluru stopped in the driveway near such illegal border crossings to pick up long-distance travelers. “The comprehensive agent is a sharply patient waiting for passengers, especially near Konavattam. Ironically, the new bus stop is only about 500 meters away from this illegal pickup truck,” said motorist K. Vetri.

Officials further said that the highway between Krishnagiri and Ranipet District is currently maintained by L&T on behalf of NHAI on a 30-year agreement. In the past few weeks, full relays have been made. Work includes relaying the asphalt driveway to a height of 40 mm, replacing the damaged steel median, road signs and median removal of bushes on the space surrounding the median.

NHAI officials further said there were about 30 illegal gaps extending along the median between Konavattam and Perumugai and that border villages in Vellore have been identified to close to prevent Jaywalking. The gap will be closed with steel railings.
