The National Bureau of Investigation (NIA) arrested two suspected militants in connection with the Manipur violence case.

The NIA has arrested another “militant” in cases involving the murder of women and the burning and robbery of houses in a village in Jiribam district. Rajkumar Maipaksana was received from the Kannur district of Kerala and was allowed to be produced on Imphal Nia Court by the NIA Special Court of Kochi, Kerala.

“Rajkumar is associated with the banned insurgency group Prepak. He is one of the main perpetrators of the crime, with a woman named Zosangkim, who was killed and robbed several houses in Zairawn Village in November 2024,” the agency said.

Last week, the NIA arrested two other accused militants who belonged to different radical clothing.

In another case, there was a “illegal act” involving the attack on the Indian Reserve Battalion Postal Moorhe area in 2024, in which one of the Manipur police officers was killed and arrested on January 17 last year and two were injured.

The defendant has been identified as Thangminlar Mate, also known as Lenin Mate, aka Tengnoupal resident. He was seized on Sunday (May 19, 2025) in Silchar, Assam. The agency said Mr Matt’s affiliation with any militant organizations is unclear.
