IRCTC case: Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Tejashvi Yadav seeks discharge

RJD President Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and their son Tejashvi Yadav on Saturday urged the court here to fire them in corruption cases between 2004 and 2014 in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) (IRCTC) between 2004 and 2014. It is “wrong” to object to them.

The defendant submitted a debate on the allegation framework in the case through senior advocate Maninder Singh.

They were charged for various crimes, including criminal conspiracy, cheating and corruption, with a maximum jail time of seven years.
The three claimed before the judge that the allegations made by the CBI against them were false, selective and motivated, adding that the central investigative agency lacked evidence to prosecute the cases.

Hearings in the case will resume on April 21.


“Some arguments represent A-1 to A-4 (Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and Lara Project LLP). Further submission is proposed.” Prasad, who was the railway minister during the UPA-1 government, had earlier questioned the effectiveness of the CBI prosecuting him in this case. The agency told the court on February 28 that there was enough evidence to prosecute the defendants.

The case stems from the alleged award of two IRCTC hotel operating contracts to a private company.

According to CBI Chargesheet, between 2004 and 2014, a conspiracy was first transferred to IRCTC at the BNR hotel of Indian Railways in Puri and Ranchi. Later, they were leased to Patna-based Sujata Hotels Private Limited for operation and maintenance.

The agency allegedly had the tender process been manipulated and manipulated and adjusted to aid private gatherings – Sujata Hotels.

The fees also list the then IRCTC, VK Asthana and RK Goyal; director of Sujata Hotels and owners of Chanakya Hotels Vijay Kochhar and Vinay Kochhar.
