Nimes Sparks Panic, No harm

Hyderabad: A small fire at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) caused panic on Saturday night, especially on social media, with allegations that firecrackers were found at the scene. The claim was rejected by officials.

The fire broke out around 4.20 pm on the fifth floor of the Trauma Block. There were no patients present at the time, and the fire was quickly summoned to the scene by fire department personnel. No casualties.

The Panjagutta Fire Department dispatched five members led by fire officer Bandla Ramesh, equipped with a multi-purpose tender (MPT). Speech Deccan Chronicle“We found that the fire could be caused by a short circuit,” Ramesh said. Although the fire was quickly controlled, the rubber insulation produced by the wiring produced thick smoke, filling the floor.

“Our team uses fire extinguishers to control the fire and remove smoke,” he added. Regarding the claims of firecrackers, Ramesh said the team did not find any such items at the scene, but said the matter would be investigated.

NIMS then issued a statement confirming the fire in non-patient care areas and saying hospital services are not affected. The hospital’s internal emergency response team included this situation along with firefighters. The cause has been determined as a possible electrical short circuit and a detailed inspection is underway. “We remain committed to the safety of patients and staff,” the statement said.

However, images circulating on social media claim that the presence of firecrackers raises serious questions about patient safety. The potential risk of a fire in a medical facility has shocked many people.

NIMS Additional Director Laxmi Bhasker denied the Cookies’ claims and told Deccan Chronicle: “I was on the scene when the police arrived. After observing the claim, I searched the place with the staff and fire police, but found nothing. The video with firecrackers was obviously misleading and we found no cookies on the scene.”

Panjagutta Station Housing Officer B. Shoban confirmed that NIMS has filed no complaints and has not registered the case.
