Intuc seeks five-point charter action against transporters

Hyderabad: President of the National Trade Union Congress of India (INTIC) G. Sanjeeva Reddy on Monday asked the centre to act quickly under a five-point charter proposed by transport workers, aiming to ensure fair treatment in the industry and improve welfare in the industry. Transport workers across the country held protests on Monday to urge their demands for Intuc’s appeal.

Key requirements include fair revisions to compensation and working conditions, formation of a dedicated transport workers’ welfare committee, regulation of the collective platform, enhanced safety measures, and simplified licensing and licensing procedures.

Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy strongly criticized the recently implemented Automobile Inspection Act and called for an immediate evacuation. He argued that the law put an improper financial and operational burden on transport drivers, many of whom are struggling to make ends meet.

“These regulations do not require adequate consultation with stakeholders to illustrate the daily reality of the transportation sector, especially the challenges facing our drivers,” said Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, who called for the transformation of the government from punitive regulations to a worker-centric welfare policy.

He added: “The government must prioritize initiatives to protect the welfare of transport drivers and their families rather than implementing severe regulations.”

The Transport Workers Welfare Commission will serve the platform for driver dissatisfaction and needs in a structured and continuous manner, the Intuc president said.
