No joy to announce the new album “Bugland” and share the title track│loud!

No Joy, the Shoegaze project hosted by Montreal mastermind Jasamine White-Gluz, announced a new upcoming album that was previewed today with its title track.

The 2020s follow-up Maternity – and the 10th anniversary release of their abandoned second album Waiting for happinessin 2023 – produced by Chicago experimentalist Fire-Toolz, he also made his debut at the closing ceremony “Jelly Meadow Bright.”

“This collaboration really makes people feel limitless,” Fire-Toolz (aka Angel Marcloid) said in a press release. “I didn’t have to follow a certain vision in some way, which made me feel like I couldn’t be Fire-Toolz. I could easily connect with this album because Jasamine and I like a lot of the same music, and I was able to be creative by unleashing my own album.”

Of the title track, White-Gluz added, “This was the first song Fire-Toolz & No Joy produced together, initially without any plan to ever release it. Our production styles melded so well together on this track that we decided we should make a whole album. The song came together super organically, from the Korn-esque bass lines to the earworm vocal, it’s the welcome sign of the album letting you know you’ve Officially entered our world.”

“Bugland” fuses glitch electronics into No Joy’s signature massive distortion, arrives with Jeremy Dabrowski-guided music videos that you can watch below. There, you will also find details on the album track list.
