Cleanliness is a reflection of socio-cultural: AK Saseendran

Forest Minister AK Saseendran criticized the trend of maintaining personal hygiene between Keralites on April 5, while ignoring the cleanliness of the surrounding environment. The minister declared Kozkod a “trash-free” area, saying the success of the waste management campaign is best reflected in the cleanliness of public places, including roads. “However, this movement is necessary to deal with the challenges of changing behavior and encourage people to keep clean in public places,” the minister said, adding that cleaning is a reflection of socio-cultural. He appreciates the role played by local agencies in ensuring that the entire region is completely clean and encourages them to maintain their status.

70 Grama Panchayats, seven municipalities and Kozhikode Corporation announced themselves as garbage-free local agencies on March 30, while 12 blocks Panchayats issued a declaration on April 3. As part of the campaign, there are 5,468 institutions, 1,480 schools, 1,480 schools, 27,618 neighborhood groups, 276 towns, 276 towns, 808 public places, and 298 public places, 298 attractions, 29 vehicles and 29 residents.

Maniyur won the Cleanest Grama Panchayat Award, while Thalakkulathur and Perumanna won the second prize. Meppayur and Kuttiad won third prizes. In the municipality, Vadakara and Koyilandy won first prizes, while Payyoli and Mukkam won second place. Mr. Saseendran distributed the awards on this occasion.

Kozhikode South Ahammad Devarkovil’s MLA hosted the event, while Kozhikode Corporation mayor Beana Philip provided the keynote speech. The convener of the Regional Executive Committee, Snehil Kumar Singh, regional collector, introduced the identity report. M. Gouthaman, Regional Coordinator of Suchitwa Mission, gave a speech at “Vrithi 2025.” Magician Pradip Hudinho presents a magic show that contains information on cleanliness.
