Foreign Minister S Jaishankar stressed that India has achieved the goal of Operation Sindoor, aiming at Pakistan’s terror infrastructure. He stressed that he stressed in a clear tone: “It’s obvious who wants to stop the firing”, which strengthened India’s stance on terrorism.

Furthermore, he stressed that the operation was intended to attack terrorist infrastructure rather than military targets, which India has clearly communicated to Pakistan. Speaking to the media on Thursday after the inaugutaion of Honduras Embassy in Delhi, he said, “It is clear who wanted cessation of firing. We achieved the goals which we set out to do by destroying the terrorist infrastructure. Since key goals were achieved, I think we reasonably took the position, because even at the start of the operation, we had sent a message to Pakistan saying we are struggling at terrorist infrastructure and not military, the military can choose to stand out rather than intervene.”

He added: “They chose not to accept that good advice. Once on the morning of May 10, they suffered a serious attack. Satellite pictures show how much damage we caused and how much damage they caused. It’s obvious who wants to stop shooting.” Additionally, Jaishankar reiterated that India’s relations with Pakistan will remain “strictly bilateral”.

Jaishankar said: “Our relations with Pakistan and their interactions with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral. This is a national consensus over the years and this has absolutely not changed. The Prime Minister made it very clear that negotiations with Pakistan will only be in terror. They know what to do. We are ready to discuss work with them on terrorism. These are viable negotiations,” he added.

After the Pahargam terrorist attack, India received international support from India, noting that the UN Security Council “condemned” the terrorist attacks in Jamu and Kashmir and stressed that it should bear responsibility.

“We actually have a lot of international support…We have a UN Guild resolution that must be held accountable for the perpetrators, and on 7 May they were responsible for #OperationsIndoor.” Earlier in the day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the brave Indian army soldiers of Badami Bagh Cantt in Srinagar and said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi redefined India’s policy on terrorism and now says any attack on Indian land will be considered an act of war.”

The Defense Minister stressed that India has always prioritized peace and never supported war. However, it is necessary to respond when its sovereignty is under attack. He said that if Pakistan continues to support terrorism, it will pay a higher price. It is worth noting that the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor in the early morning of May 7, targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan, where Pakistan occupied Jamu and Kashmir (POJK).

The operation was a retaliatory response to the terrorist attacks in Jamu and Pahalgam in Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, while others were injured. After the attack, Pakistan retaliated against cross-border shelling in Line of Control, Jamu and Kashmir, and drone attacks along the border areas, followed by India’s coordinated attacks and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centers, communication centers and airports at Pakistan Air Force Base.

On May 10, India and Pakistan gained some knowledge about cessation of hostilities.
