Officials, citizens participated in the drive

Visakhapatnam: On Saturday, many government offices in the northern part of Andhra District participated in the monthly Swachhandhra-Swarnandhra (SASA) cleanliness, with the theme of this month focusing on the “Beat the Heat” program to cope with the hot summer heat. As part of the plan, Vizag Municipal Corporation has established 106 cooling centers in the city and has established green shades in public places, providing citizens with a chance to breathe in the blazing sun.
In Anakapalli, regional tax official Y. Satyanarayana Rao led the clean driving in the Collector’s Office, and also unveiled the “Calm Vendram” (cooling station). On the other hand, the District Police Department organized a separate “shramadan” (volunteer service) program under the guidance of Sp tuhin Sinha. The office was applied on this occasion and saplings were planted.
In Visakhapatnam, Mayor Pila Srinivasa Rao held an event in Shivaji Park. Eastern constituency MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and regional collector MN Harendhira Prasad were present. The central government and the GVMC jointly funded six new sanitation vehicles and handed them over to those involved in the cleaning of the drives.
“GVMC has taken many awareness programs to reduce the heat in the summer,” the mayor said.
“We encourage residents to grow plants on terrace gardens, prepare organic fertilizer from wet waste and provide water for birds and animals during the summer,” he said.
“Cleaning is the basis for maintaining health. Police forces have a responsibility to make people aware of cleanliness,” said DSP P. Nageswara Rao.
In Vizianagaram, government employees cleaned the offices according to instructions from regional collector BR Ambedkar. The District Education Office, the Electricity Distribution Company, the Information Department and others participated in the drive.
In addition to this, drinking water facilities were installed in all government offices, water bowls were established for birds and animals, tents were established in public places, during which awareness of stroke prevention was organized, promoting terrace gardens and organic compost.
The state-standard program carried out on the third Saturday of each month, the government, police departments, and citizens of the Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Vizianagaram districts also participated in extensive participation.
