I had to go to JP Nagar from Chikkabidarakallu. The journey cost me –
- Cars from home to metro station – 70 rupees
- From Chikkabidarakallu to RV Road-80
- Walk to destination from RV Road – ₹0 (but it took 13 minutes)
- Back to the walk – 13 minutes
- Return to Metro-80
- Return to the last mile – Rs 70
Total 300 rupees
If I drive from home to my destination, my fee will be Rs 250, no walking, no climbing and descending stairs, no waiting for a taxi.
All in all, driving your own car can save time and money. This shouldn’t be the case with public transport, especially in densely populated urban centers such as Bangalore.
How people react:
“We have a serious lack of last-mile connectivity in the city, and everyone is encouraging public transport, but no one talks about crowds and discomfort. Our buses (especially low floors) are not comfortable, and people over 45 years old will experience shared pain and stuff, and they work to sit down on these buses instead of ignoring sudden rest and narrow Aissles,” said Reddit users. ”
Another user added: “Forgot the last mile connection, and even in most subway stations, there is not enough parking for both wheels.”
Another user said: “Sadly, is this the fact that I don’t even understand why anyone disagrees? The economy is the only practical aspect of public transportation and is now destroyed.”
