Olympia Neeraj Chopra awards honorary post to colonel on territory

According to government notice, Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been awarded the honorary position of the Territory Colonel.
The notice was issued by the Ministry of Defense’s Military Affairs Department.
The 27-year-old ace javelin thrower, from the village of Khandra near Panipat, Haryana, won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He won the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Mr. Chopra is the Deputy Director of the Indian Army. It is reported that he plans to retire this year.

The Territory Army (TA) was raised on October 9, 1949, completed last year for 75 years, and served in the country during the war and operated on decades of hard travel in humanitarian and environmental protection.
It is completely integrated with the regular army. To recognize the efforts and contributions of state-building during war or conflict, many have received honors of courage and outstanding service awards in TA.
