On-site | Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday (April 3) that U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs was not a “friend’s behavior” but rather a rule out reciprocity tariffs on the United States. Trump said on April 2 that he would impose a 10% benchmark tariff on some of his country’s largest trading partners on all imports and higher duties, a move that intensified the trade war Trump launched when he returned to the White House. “The (Trump) administration tariffs have no logical basis, they go against the foundations of the partnership between our two countries. It’s not the act of friends,” Albanes told reporters.
