One kills, more than 20 people are injured as the bus carries Sabarimala pilgrims from Karnataka

Police said a 45-year-old man was killed and more than 20 others were injured when they were killed on Wednesday a private bus traveling near Kottayam, Kerala.

The bus took pilgrims from Karnataka to Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala, and the accident occurred around 6.30 am.

An official said the highway where the accident had sharp turns and steep slopes, and when it entered, the bus broke out and overturned the side of the road.

“Five people who suffered severe injuries were taken to Kotayam Medical College, and about 18 people with cuts and bruises were given first aid at a nearby hospital,” the official said.

He added that there were about 32 pilgrims, including seven children on the bus.
