The opposition on Thursday slammed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' claim that the country has performed well since he took over as chief minister, citing ongoing problems such as farmers' suicides have risen and there is no discussion to address the issue.
Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Legislative Council member Ambadas Danve’s statement is a response to CM’s 100-day performance report, which he released on May 1, 2025 in Maharashtra Day.
Mr Fadnavis shared a 100-day performance report from the state government, saying that since the Mahayuti government took office from December 2024 to March 2025, 48 departments have fully achieved their goals. He said the report evaluated the Indian Quality Council.
However, the news has attracted criticism from the opposition. Mr. Danff dismissed the report in an attempt to cover up the government’s failure to address rural distress and the rise of farmers’ suicides.
Speaking to a reporter from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mr. Danf said: “The real contribution of the Mahayoti government in these 100 days is to increase the financial burden through election-centric announcements and surge in farmers’ suicides. These realities must be reflected in their performance reports.”
Mr Danve, citing official data from the Office of the Department Commissioner, noting that between January 2025 and March 2025, 269 farmers committed suicide in the Malatwada area, compared with 204 cases in the same period last year. The eight affected areas include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv, Latur, Beed, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani and Jalna.
Since the new government took over, Mr. Denver entered the social media platform XXX and criticized what he called the use of “split language and political drama.” He said, “The state was introduced to new vocabulary – 'aaka', 'aaka', 'bada aaka', 'bokya' and 'khokya' and 'khokya' and 'khokya'. Meanwhile, budgets in student and farmer welfare programs have been cut and are expected to continue to be borrowed and have guaranteed releases.”
According to a report shared by the Chief Minister of Social Media, 12 departments achieved 100% of their strategic goals under the 100-day plan. Eighteen departments scored more than 80%, while 10 registrations performed between 60 and 79%. However, eight departments scored less than 60%.
“After the establishment of the Mahayuti government, all 48 departments have developed a 100-day action plan. Of the 902 strategic goals, 706% (or 78%) are set. I sincerely congratulate all departments on their influence.”
