Rajani M of State Union (Medical) (Medical).
“People can use QR code readers on their smartphones or other devices to scan codes and fill out commitment forms. After a successful commitment registration, the person will receive a donation card with a unique registration number. We are working with all hospitals to encourage guarantees,” she said, adding that the QR code and online quality difference is easier to access and easier to use.
Organ donation
Considering that Karnataka has seen 63 organ donations this year until April 17. It has been recording over 150 donations over the past three years. So far, this year, the highest contributions in Tamil Nadu have been 74, while Telangana has 64 donations.
Less than 5% of donations
Although the number of people who promise organs is increasing, not even 5% of people actually become donors. Naushad Pasha, chief transplant coordinator for Jeevasarthakathe/Sotto, said that so far, there have been 1,155 organ donations in Karnataka (from 2007), with no more than 15 donations, while those who promised organ donations have been donated.
He said that the reasons were explained in detail, and due to clinical reasons, the identified donors were not suitable for donations. “Or, someone from the donor’s family/far-distant family/friend circle said that the next relative didn’t have much say in the decision to make the wishes of the person who opposed it. Also, most of the time, the family was not aware of the organ that the person did.
