Osman Nagar Reservoir is ready for inauguration

The twin reservoir in Osman Nagar, Patancheru constituency, with 4 and 2 ml capacity, provides drinking water for the outer villages, residential colonies and Gate communities along the outer ring road (ORR).

The cost of construction under the ORR 2 phase and Package 2 project is Rs 300 crore, and the reservoir will provide drinking water to nearly 10,000 people in the area. So far, 55 bulk connections have been planned and a 22-kilometer distribution pipeline has been laid. With this facility, the drinking needs of the Tellapur municipality will be fully met.

Ashok Reddy, managing director of the Metropolitan Water and Sewer Commission of Hyderabad (HMWS&SB), directed on-site officials to expedite work on internal roads and landscaping during inspections of various units.

So far, finished works include distribution lines, reservoir structures, inlet and outlet works, electrical works and chlorine chambers. The board of directors also recently held a trial.

According to officials, a water review was also conducted. Flow meters have been installed to track water use and identify transmission losses.

Intelligent valve system

Here the board of directors also implements its smart valve system based on experiments. Sanathnagar has a similar approach.

With this solar smart system, valve operation can be enabled through a mobile application. It also provides insights on water quality, quantity and chlorine levels.

For supervision, the main dashboard set up at the headquarters at the headquarters will convey and access the same readings. Set the system so that if the chlorine level in the water drops from the set standard, an alarm will be issued online.

The Osman Nagar facility will be monitored in real time through gardening, signboards, solar lighting, painting and CCTV networks.

The ORR Project Phase 2 is a Rs 12,000 crore project aimed at building 71 new service reservoirs and a 2,758km pipeline network to cover 7 municipal companies, 18 municipalities and 24g Panchayats and benefit from 2.5 million people.
