Pahalgam terrorist attack: 28 tourists killed, TRF claims responsibility

On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire on a group of people, mainly in Baisaran, near Pahargham, which was killed in Kashmir, a attack that Jamu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “is much bigger than anything we’ve seen in recent years.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, decided to lay off employees and will return to India early Wednesday. In view of the terrorist attacks, Modi also skipped the official dinner hosted by Saudi Arabia.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to speak with Prime Minister PM Modi to “express heartfelt condolences to the lost as soon as possible. Our prayers are with the injured and our nation’s support for our ally India.”
Pahargam’s losses could increase as several others suffered serious injuries, according to officials whose casualties and victims have not been confirmed.

’13 suffered damage’

They said the deceased included two foreigners whose nationality had not been established, as well as locals. Among those killed, an Indian Navy officer got married last week and went to Kashmir with his wife. Sources said Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a Haryana native, was appointed in Kochi.
“Thirteen people were injured and were being treated in different hospitals,” said J&K Health Minister Sakina Ittoo. The Resistance Front (TRF) is a branch of Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba, claiming to be responsible for attacks on social media platforms. This was established after the abolition of Article 370 of 2019. In a statement sent on social media, TRF said: “More than 85,000 residences have been sent out to create a pathway for population changes in the Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJK) (IOJK) who are trying to solve illegally.”
For more than two decades, the biggest terrorist attack on Jamu & Kashmir tourists at the start of the valley’s tourist season was the attack on the official visit of U.S. Vice President JD Vance to the country. This is a major attack in Pulwama in February 2019, in which 40 central reserve personnel were killed.
Amarnath Yatra’s base
Baisaran, where the incident occurred, is a grassy field about five kilometers away from the popular tourist destination, without direct car roads. Pahalgam is about 100 kilometers from Srinagar, the capital of Anantnag district in southern Kashmir, and is also the base camp of Amarnath Yatra, which was originally scheduled to start on July 3.

Locals and tourists hike on foot or use pony to reach the plateaus of the forested area. Here, vendors’ temporary cabins sell food, and the area remains busy with tourists during the peak hours of the day. There is no large number of armed forces in tourist areas.

“I saw two people falling from the forest area and the bags fell from the forest area,” said a witness who did not want to be identified.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the people behind the attack will be brought to justice. “They (terrorists) will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our determination to fight terrorism is unshakable, and it will become stronger.”
