Pahalgam terrorist attack: Karnataka CM rushes minister to Kashmir to ensure safe return in Kanadicas

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed Labour Minister Santosh Lad to rush to Pahalgam and Kashmir in Chamu, with 26 people, including tourists, were killed in the terrorist attacks and ensure a smooth return of the affected Kannadigas. He said a team of officials was sent to Kashmir on Tuesday night to rescue those stranded after the attack. So far, at least two people from Karnataka have died.

Terrorists opened fire on a famous meadow near the town of Pahalgam in Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mainly tourists, in a deadliest attack since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

A senior official said the deceased included two foreigners from the UAE and Nepal, as well as two locals, without a detailed description. Officials said 22 of the 26 victims have been identified and efforts are being made to identify the other four.
Siddaramaiah posted on ‘X’: “My heart aches when I think of innocent lives in the attack.

He said praying for peace for the late soul, and regrettably many of the traveling Kannadigas died. He said the state government will do everything possible to bring Kannadigas back to the state safely.


“In this regard, I realize that the government needs more aid, and I directed Labor Minister Santosh Lad to go to Kashmir and oversee the entire operation,” he said on Tuesday. A victim was identified as Bengaluru Bharath Bhushan, while his wife Sujatha and their three-year-old son survived. Another person is the real estate agent Manjunath Rao from Shivamogga who was also killed in Pahalgam.
