In view of the recent deaths of 26 people, the Supreme Court (May 5, 2025) rejected the search for tourists in remote areas of Jamu and Kashmir on Monday (May 5, 2025).

A seat for judge Surya Kant and Judge N. Kotiswar Singh, Vishal Tiwari proposed the PIL and said it was just for publicity and no public utilities.

Judge Kant told Tiwari: “Why are you submitting this PIL? What are your real motivations? Don't you understand the sensitivity of the problem? I think you are asking for some exemplary fees for submitting this PIL.”

The petitioner lawyer said this was the first time tourists from Jamu and Kashmir were targeted, so he was looking for instructions for safety.

The bench said by order: “Petitioners are addicted to applications one by one, while another PIL seems to be trying to promote without interest in public utilities.” Terrorists opened fire on April 22 in Baisaran, a popular tourist resort in the upper area of Pahalgam, killing 26 people, mainly tourists from other states.

The incident is with India-Pakistan tensions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim that the “killer” will be “to the end of the earth”.
