A mother, who was awake when her husband stood on her with a knife, woke up at night, was determined to provide him with the help he needed.
But despite the urgent efforts since the incident two months ago, Bailey Koch killed her two sons at her quiet lake home in Nebraska on Sunday.
Authorities say the man she married had done almost incredible cruelty with the father of the child.
Jeremy Koch is believed to have stabbed the couple’s two teenage sons, Hudson, 18, and Asher, 16, and his 41-year-old wife before putting the weapon on himself.
Just a few days ago, Bailey was a doting wife and mother who publicly begged for her husband’s mental health before something unimaginable happened.
Just a few days before the murder, Bailey launched GoFundMe The May 4 campaign was titled “Jeremy’s Battle: Needing Mental Health Support”, in which she described her husband’s severe depression and long history of suicide dates back to 2009.
Since then, the page has stopped receiving donations, including profound personal details about the family’s struggles with mental illness, and tells the cold account with a knife.

Bailey wrote: “A few months ago, in March, I woke up and Jeremy shook and said, “There are some problems,” Bailey wrote. “He stood on my bed with a knife, ready to end his life. I was able to convince him and accept help.
“He went to our safe place, Richard Young Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, for the fourth time in our marriage, and was hospitalized for four nights and five days. They tried to upgrade the medication and keep him safe.
Bailey wrote that her husband’s condition had a significant worsening in 2024. On May 3, she said Koch had survived at least four suicide attempts.
She went on to explain how Jeremy was recently released from hospital care so that he could attend Hudson High School, a graduation program held just hours after being found dead on Saturday morning.

Representatives from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office responded at a family home in the Johnson Lake neighborhood after receiving a report from a non-responsive person at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday, May 9.
When officers arrived at the home in the Melker Creek Canyon area, they found four people died from the Nebraska Patrol (NSP) later confirmed as a fatal stabbing.
Bailey Koch is a special education teacher at Holdrege Public Schools.
Shortly after the news broke, her employer issued a statement: “Our hearts are with everyone affected by the tragic events that seriously affect all of us.”

The death was also confirmed by Cozad Community Schools, where Hudson and Asher, both admitted, and expressed condolences in the Facebook post writing, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this incredibly difficult time.”
After ending electroshock therapy treatment earlier this year, Bailey explained how Jeremy became “the shell of her own.”
“Mental illness is taking my husband away from me, and I beg you to open your eyes and see the reality of the mental health crisis in this society,” she wrote.
His son Hudson plans to move to California’s bonsai apprenticeship after graduation.
His brother Asher is a freshman and a top player in his high school golf team.
Bailey’s social media posts often pride her son and determination to fight for her husband’s recovery, but in recent months, the family’s situation has become increasingly terrifying.
Bailey wrote in her Gofundme request that Jeremy was powerless – unable to eat, drink or get out of bed without help.
“By not eating or drinking, Jeremy is slowly completing suicide.”
She also detailed the financial collapse of their family business and the loss of retirement savings from both parents to repay debts.
But Bailey also has sparks of brightness, full of hope, and the family will attend their son’s graduation ceremony together.

The Nebraska Patrol continues to lead the homicide investigation.
Authorities have not released an official timetable for the incident, nor have they confirmed whether any notes or news were found on the scene.
Bailey’s parents, Lane and Peg Kugler, made public statements on Facebook mourning the loss of their daughter and grandson, while also criticizing their alleged systemic failure in the mental health care system.
Bailey expressed growing frustration at the lack of available resources in the final public information.
“Mental illness is taking my husband away from me, and I beg you to open your eyes and see the reality of the mental health crisis in this society,” she wrote.

She also described being forced to take care of her husband at home because the local hospital could not accept patients without immediate suicidal thoughts.
“We are safe, Richard Young Hospital, there aren’t enough beds…it’s mental health care in our world,” she wrote. “It’s all about the caregivers.”
Now, both Holdrege and Cozad plan to conduct multiple community vigils.
Dawson County prosecutors also ordered autopsy for all four victims and expected results later this week.
Officials said the investigation is still ongoing, but no other suspects are seeking.
No funeral plans have been announced.
