Idukki’s Pallivasal Grama Panchayat has established a “Fort Model”, the latest initiative under the “Take-Abreak-abrew Project”.
Its earlier design was successful under projects based on Munnar railway services and low-rise buses.
Panchayat officials said the fortress model was established in Pothamedu, near Munnar Pallivasal.
Panchayat president Pratheesh Kumar VG said Pallivasal is one of the emerging tourist attractions at Munnar Hill Station. “The fortress model is estimated to be Rs 2.8 lakh,” he said.
“There is a cafeteria, viewpoint and toilet complex in the fortress model building. From a perspective, visitors can enjoy the views of the chokramudi mountain,” he said.
Mr Kumar said Panchayat is planning more of these initiatives under the project to attract tourists to Munnar and to increase Panchayat’s income and create more jobs.
Mr Kumar said: “Panchayat has completed six tour projects, including the Fort Model, Munnar Monorail model, Munnar Rail model, low-floor bus model, Watch Tower and She Lodge.”
“We are getting good feedback from tourists. They want to spend time taking pictures on blasting buildings,” he said.
Local Autonomous Minister MB Rajesh activated the “Fort Model” in Pallivasal on Tuesday.
The minister said that regarding the opening of the project, the government will immediately implement a project in Munar to change the hill tourist destination to a completely clean destination.
