Polish Secretary of State and Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski said on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) that the relationship between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi may be helpful at some stage in the negotiations on the Russian-Ukraine-Ikraine war.
However, Mr. Bartoskiski clarified that he believes it would be better if only U.S. President Donald Trump has room to keep with President Putin, saying “one person and see what’s going on.”

“I think being welcomed by mediators is like (Russia) President Putin does talk to Prime Minister Modi, so it might be very helpful at some stage, but at the moment I think there is any room for whoever is President Putin is President Trump, and I think it’s better to leave it to one person for the time being and see one person,” the Polish minister told ANI.

Mr Bartoszewski’s comments are on the sidelines of the Raisaina dialogue held in New Delhi. When asked about the Israeli-Gaza War, he condemned the recent air strikes in Gaza, Gaza, calling for a ceasefire and a final two-state solution,
“As Poland, we believe there are two national solutions there, we want a ceasefire with peace negotiations and ultimately lead to two national solutions that we have been working on for decades, so it’s a regrettable loss of life.”
Modi’s role in preventing nuclear weapons from attacking Ukraine
Earlier on March 18, Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister said Prime Minister Modi was convincing the Russian president not to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Bartoszewski said in his speech by Ani that Mr Putin “threatened” to the use of tactical nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory, but calls from India and China influenced his decision to reconsider.
President Putin threatens to use tactical nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory. The Americans sent him a lot of messages to avoid thinking about this…this wouldn’t necessarily convince him. He received two calls – a call from Chinese President XI Jinping, XI Jinping, and a Chinese man from PM Modi was not able to independently approve Mr. Bartoszew. ”
