PAR team seeks detailed information on actions targeting social media platforms “breach of national interests”

New Delhi: A parliamentary group seeks detailed information about their planned actions against social media platforms and influential and influential people following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Sources say some social media influencers and platforms in the country appear to be in violation of national interests, which is likely to incite violence. In communication with various departments of information, broadcasting, electronics and information technology, the Commission has sought “detailed information prohibiting such platforms under the IT Act of 2000, as well as the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Regulations) Rules, 2021”.
Sources said the letter had been sent to the secretary of two ministries and was asked to submit details by May 8.
Several social media handles have been banned on different platforms after content allegedly posted to national security interests.

On April 22, terrorists in Pahalgam, southern Kashmir shot and killed twenty-six people, and India blamed the terrorist incidents related to Pakistan.


Trinamool MP Saket Gokhale, a member of the panel, said in a post on X that he had not received any communications related to the issues cited in the memo. He claimed that under the rules, the Chairman could not make a statement without the approval of the Committee. However, Gokhale later deleted his post.
