A passenger was brutally attacked by a stranger on Sunday, robbed and pushed out of a private bus in Kozhikode. Casaba police have arrested Ramshad of Palanbir Bazaar in connection with the case (29). He is scheduled to produce in Kozhikode’s first-class judicial magistrate court on Tuesday.
The incident took place around 9 p.m. Sunday, taking a private bus from Perumanna to Kozhikode City. T. Nishad boarded the bus from Kombalam near Pantheerankavu and was sitting in the last row. He was allegedly attacked by Mr Ramshad without any provocation. When he fell, he was choked. In Kinasseri, Mr Ramshad drove Mr Nishad out of the bus after snatching his cell phone and cash worth Rs 4,500. Mr Nishad was injured in the Beach General Hospital and filed a police complaint on Monday.
The incident was recorded on CCTV on the bus.
Police said Mr Ramsard was another bus driver and was a defendant in several other criminal cases. “The results of his claim he committed the crime suddenly surged,” police sources said.
