TG caste investigation political head: Aruna

Hyderabad: BJP Vice President and Mahbubnagar MP DK Aruna claimed that the congressional government's caste census in Telangana was wrongly motivated purely by political interests, rather than intended to benefit backward class (BCS) communities. She claimed that more than half of the population did not participate in the survey because they realized it was driven by the upcoming local human elections, rather than those who really focused on the backward community.
“People refuse to play because they know it's not intended to promote the BCS. The government has acted just to achieve the election interests,” she claimed.
“The public has no confidence in the congressional leadership investigation. The ruling party failed to implement its BC declaration before the congressional elections, which would only worsen the trust deficit,” Aruna said in response to Congress leaders' urging the center to replicate Telangana's caste investigation pattern.
She claimed that the exercise did not produce any qualitative data on the socioeconomic status of BCS. She asserted: “The government has not weakened its position by including Muslims in this category. Providing Muslims with reservations to BC is unconstitutional and an insult to the backward class.”
Aruna said the Narendra Modi-led government is preparing for a comprehensive caste census nationwide, the first since 1931. “Although more than 60 years in power, Congress was under tremendous pressure during Manmohan Singh’s tenure, Congress failed to undertake the caste census.”
