Pastor washes feet on Modi Thursday

Hyderabad: The church observed on Thursday Maundy – the last supper to commemorate Jesus – through special liturgies, hand washing rituals and communion services.
The Bishop of the Bishop presided over the Methodist Church in Hyderabad Dr. Elia Pradeep, who told the worshippers that “Maundy” originated from the Latin mandatum (commands), symbolizing the symbol of Christ. “Jesus set the highest standard of humility,” the bishop said, adding that believers were asked to “love and serve each other.”
In St Anthony’s Church, Mudfort, the parish pastor, Father Raju Alex, re-formed the feet of 12 parishioners (including three women) to illustrate the example of Christ. “I urge faithful people to get rid of external costumes of pride, anger and hatred and love each other,” he said.
St. John’s Baptist Church in East Marepaly reported its Eucharist at night. Church secretary James Samuel pointed out that Modi was particularly important to the actions of the baptized members on the main table on Thursday.
The church will hold Good Friday services, eventually at the Easter celebrations on Sunday.
