Patrols intensify after advanced security gatherings, deploying drones on the coast of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A high-level security review meeting was held on Saturday at the police officer Seva Bhavan, in light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan and the growing security concerns over the wide coastline of Odisha.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Odisha Police (DGP) YB Khurania and participated in the participation of senior officials, including the Additional Director General of Coastal Security (ADG) and the ADG and ADG of Law and Order, with a focus on assessing the state’s coastal security infrastructure, improving mutual assistance coordination, and ensuring operational status.
As Odisha’s 480-km long coastline is vulnerable to threats such as infiltration, smuggling and natural disasters, state police have intensified surveillance and patrol along the coast.
After the meeting, ADG Coastal Security Arun Botra said: “UAV surveillance has been greatly monitored in real time by coastal areas.
He added that close coordination has been established with the Indian Navy and CIA to respond quickly through conventional communication and information sharing. Joint patrol exercises are also planned to enhance preparation.
ADG highlights the use of modern technology, mentioning that advanced surveillance systems, high-speed interceptor ships and mobile patrols are strategically deploying sensitive stretches.
In his opening remarks, DGP Khurani highlighted the importance of collaborative approaches involving the marine police, the Indian Navy, the Coast Guard and intelligence agencies to establish seamless security grids. He praised the troops for their vigilance and urged them to maintain additional alertness during festivals, whirlwind alerts and other critical situations.
Officials also reviewed the Marine Police Department, human availability, training needs and logistics operations. Plans are being made to upgrade infrastructure, increase coastal outposts and strengthen the capacity of marine police personnel.
According to defense analysts, the strategic meeting marks a focus on strengthening coastal security in Odisha, as the state remains a key figure in India’s maritime defense network in eastern India.
