Payal Kapadia appears in red carpet as part of a jury team

New Delhi: Indian film producer Payal Kapadia walked the red carpet on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 78th Cannes Film Festival as part of a prestigious jury panel celebrating the prestigious jury. It marks her record of history as the first feature film to win its first premiere, Light as Light as Light, the history of India’s first champion, marking her return to the Cannes Film Festival. The Malayalam Hindi film became the first film in India and became part of the Cannes competition after 30 years of gap.
Director and Cannes jury president and French film star Juleette Binoche, American actor and film producer Halle Berry, Italian actor Alba Rohrwacher, French-Moroccan writer Leila Slimani, Congolese director Dieean Hamadi, South Korean director and screenwriter Hong Sangsoo, Mememem rememem andereman Carlos Carlos Carlos Carlos and topersan.
Kapadia chose an oversized striped gray pants suit with a printed black shirt for her red classroom outfit.
Before the festival’s opening, Kapadia chose a blue top and a red asymmetric dress by designer Payal Khandwala, who also wore a famous filmmaker for her at the Golden Globes 2025 ceremony earlier this year.
The Cannes jury panel will award its highest award Palme d’Or and award it to one of the 21 films in the competition. The winners will be announced at the festival’s ending ceremony on May 24.
In the past, Indian film characters such as Mrinal Sen, Mira Nair, Shekhar Kapur, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nandita Das, Sharmila Tagore, Sharmila Tagore, Vidya Balan and Deepika Padukone have served in Cannes juries.
