15 women’s commando deployed at Shamshabad International Airport

Hyderabad: In India, the 15 specially trained women’s commandos of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in India deployed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) here for the first time, an important step in strengthening airport security and promoting women’s empowerment.
Women’s Commando comes from various states and brings a diverse experience to the troops. They are part of the larger women trained in such roles, all of whom are between 20 and 30 years old. Among the women’s commando deployed, the youngest was 23 years old.
“Currently, nine women are currently working, working for eight hours in each shift, with three commandos per shift. This is part of the trial phase, and more women are being trained. Once the course is completed, the number of women per class may increase to five or six,” a CISF official told Deccan Chronicle.
All female commandos completed a year-long basic police training and an eight-week commando course. Afterwards, they received training for airports that focused on handling emergencies in crowded areas, using weapons in confined spaces and responding quickly to threats while keeping passengers safe.
Most of them have been posted in food courts and boarding areas, which are more vulnerable and see the presence of passengers. The internal terminal area has been highly fixed.
As part of the endurance exercise, women were trained to climb the 21st floor of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower without lifts, preparing for high-pressure scenarios where speed and endurance are crucial.
Currently, only Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has deployed these specially trained women. Despite earlier mentioning similar moves taken by Bangalore Airport, officials clarified that they could not confirm details of other locations.
Officials say the move is not only about improving safety, but also a clear message that women can play any tough role with strength, skill and confidence.
