Pete Hegseth uses signals for sensitive Pentagon communications
According to the Wall Street Journal, Heggs used signals and assistants to plan military operations and participate in at least 12 chats, and he also prefers the app over the department's official communication channel.
One of the most sensitive messages from Heggs allegedly was instructing his assistants to inform allies about ongoing military operations abroad, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Hegseth sent an unsecured line message from the Pentagon office from his personal phone, and he could also access his military aide, Marine Ricky Buria, and communicated information about the March attack on Yemen with Hegseth's wife, brother and private lawyer.
Currently, the acting inspector general of the Department of Defense, Steven Stebbins, has launched an investigation to see if Hegseth has violated any rules on confidential information on the application under the Wall Street Journal. The report added that Heggs repeatedly dismissed the shared confidential information.
An accidental leak to reporters
