News of the fire came when the Prime Minister revealed that the government plans to violate immigration rules.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Sir Kyle warned of the risk of Britain becoming a “Stranger Island” as he unveiled a series of new policies to address illegal immigration.
When the Prime Minister spoke on Downing Street, he vowed to end the “betrayal” of relying on cheap foreign labor, deployed the “return control” slogan of the Brexit movement.
However, whether the rules will have enough impact has raised doubts – Conservative criticism of failing to introduce annual figure caps.
The news came in less than two weeks and the UK rose again with public anger at immigration, winning local elections and causing a series of destructive defeats to Labor.
Sir Keir is now scrambling to refute the threat from Nigel Farage’s party by making a firm stand on the issue – and delivering lower net immigration figures during parliamentary term.
The Ministry of Home Affairs aides are said to be worried that without deep-rooted reforms, net immigration will settle down every year, even higher than the National Bureau of Statistics’ projected level 340,000.
Sir Keir accused the Conservatives of overseeing the number of explosions during their administration, saying the system appears to be “to allow abuse” and is “contributing to the forces that are slowly taking our country apart”.
The Prime Minister estimates that the new immigration reform will cut immigration numbers by 100,000 per year.

This flagship immigration white paper includes 10 years of British citizenship, not five.
Those who work and pay taxes can also jump on the cohort of residence rights, while public service staff and highly skilled professionals will be quickly tracked.
In the new base, the language test bar will also be upgraded, and immigrants now need to obtain a “skilled worker” visa.
Labor also plans to fill loopholes so companies can blame the “skill gap” to bring in cheap jobs.
Sir Kyle emphasized his determination that changes would mean “the number of migrations decreased” but added: ‘If we do need to take further steps…and then mark my words. ”
But he refused to guarantee that net immigration will drop every year from now, saying: “I do want to shut it down by the end of the parliament.”
According to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), it is estimated that the total of temporary migration to the UK is 728,000 as of June 2024.
It is estimated that around 1,207,000 people have immigrated to the UK during the 12 months, while an estimated 479,000 have immigrated, with a net immigration figure of 728,000.
This is 20% lower than the record 906,000 in the first 12 months to June 2023.
Sir Kyle’s critics, including Richard Tice, who reformed Britain, called on him to introduce specific digital caps.
He told BBC Radio 4 Today.
The Conservative Party said the Prime Minister was “trying to commend the recent sharp drop in visa numbers due to conservative reforms in April 2024.
After the speech, the Prime Minister also met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersesson in Downing Street.
The two discussed how Britain and Sweden can build closer bonds and continue to support Ukraine.
