Piyush Goyal meets with London business leaders to promote India-UK investment and trade relations

London [UK]April 29 (ANI): Union Union Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting in London, focusing on increasing investment links and strengthening bilateral trade between India and the UK.
Goyal is visiting London for a series of discussions aimed at deepening economic cooperation.
On the first day of the visit, Goyal met with various industry leaders to explore new opportunities. He held a meeting with Revolut App Chairman Martin Gilbert, who discussed the huge growth potential of India’s fintech ecosystem.
They also talked about the importance of building partnerships with global players in driving innovation and supporting the expansion of the industry.
“Mr. Martin Gilbert, Chairman of @revolutapp, met with views on the great opportunities in India’s fintech ecosystem and the importance of working with global players to promote innovation and growth.”
Goyal also met with Al Cook, CEO of De Beers Group. Their discussion focuses on global trends in the gemstones and jewelry sectors, opportunities in India in the industry, sustainable practices and growth prospects for the diamond business.
Later that day, Goyal interacted with members of the Indian business delegation during dinner. Discussions center around strong growth in the Indian industry and explore ways to work with the UK for common prosperity.
The minister said in another post: “Interact with members of the Indian Business Delegation. Discussed strong growth in our industry and avenues to work with the UK to strive for mutual prosperity.”
Earlier, upon arrival in London, he met with British Secretary of Commerce and Trade Jonathan Reynolds to raise negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said negotiations between India and the UK on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are being restarted and both sides are working to move the agreement forward.
Jaiswal said of the April 9 press conference that there were seven rounds of negotiations between India and the UK, and both sides were keen to push forward the negotiations.
When asked about the FTA talks between India and the UK, Randhir Jaiswal said: “The FTA negotiations with the UK are restarting and both sides are still committed to moving forward. If my memory is right for me. If my memory is seven rounds for me, think about it’s the eighth round and both sides are willing to end these conversations so we can negotiate in advance so we can negotiate in advance. (ANI)
