Pizza party or warning? Bankers who work 110 hours require “doing better”

At Robert W. Baird, a group of junior bankers have been working for weeks at 4 a.m. One day, the multinational independent investment company called for a pizza party in Chicago. Many people think it’s thanking them. However, the company has other plans.
The manager told them they needed to do better. When some bankers complain about long periods of time, they are told to work smart.
According to the Wall Street Journal, former employees said 110 hours of week are common. Managers often violate rules, including skipping the need to Saturday.
A banker at Robert W. Baird earlier complained to HR companies about working 20 hours a day. Shortly afterwards, he collapsed at home and doctors found that his pancreas had failed, probably due to overwork. He was later fired for his poor performance.
On Wall Street Oasis, the post on the post virus was on a middle-level banker who made juniors work for 20 hours. That banker, Aaron Haney, was fired in April.
People who work with him say he is popular and works for a long time.
A former Baird analyst told the publication that he had signed deals in one year. One night, he walked out of dinner. Then his boss got angry for not notifying him.
More than a dozen junior employees have quit Baird’s team since early 2024, and some have recently. After working for a long time, two went to the hospital. One person even told HR that the pressure was too great.
How many hours are there in the work week?
Infosys founder Narayana Murthy once suggested 70 hours of work. Chairman L&T supports the 90-hour week. Now, Elon Musk praises Doge workers for working 120 hours.
However, Indian employees are in different moods. In big cities such as Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai, 90% believe that a 12-hour working day is unrealistic. They accuse long-distance traveling, which takes about two to three hours a day.
