Minister of Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao has asked officials in the department to prepare an action plan for the upcoming Kharif season to prepare green manure, crop seeds and required fertilizer seeds before the season’s agricultural work begins.
In a meeting with officials, the minister said on Monday that the department’s goal should provide all agricultural inputs in a timely manner until the Mandal level. He asked officials to prepare guidelines for rain-raising crops grown this season.
He directed authorities to provide video conferencing facilities in another 1,000 Rythu Vedikas by June 2, in addition to one of each mandala that has been enabled. The Chief Minister will open the video conferencing facility in Rythu Vedikas.
Officials explained to the minister that the stock site already had about 331,000 tons of fertilizer. The minister advised them to obtain another 500,000 tons of urea by the end of the month. He accused the Center of its attitude of announcing only the minimum support price for crops and purchasing only a few of them, leaving the procurement of other crops to the state government and financially burdening.
The minister told officials that he would write to the Centre to request procurement of each crop fixed by MSP and to inform officials of vigilance reports on complaints about cotton procurement.
Officials informed Telangana Seed Development Corporation of pending dues for seed subsidies – from 2016 to 2025, soybeans, peanuts, legumes, Paddy, Paddy and others for Rs 220.8 crore and another Rs 87.57 crore for 2021 to 2024.
